The Houston Hurricanes FC Head Coach Brendan Keyes announced today that the team signed Justus Rodriguez from Kerrville Texas. Keyes said about Rodriguez who lives in San Antonio at the moment, he already has a nick name from the lads “The Kerrville Kid”  You all want a player who makes the kind of commitment like Justus to do well, driving from San Antonio and back for tryouts three times last week shows this kids passion for the game. He still has to show it on the field and he did with some great runs down the flanks and to finish it off with a top quality cross. He has a lot of work to break into the starting line up but he is in the squad.

Rodriguez said this is a dream come true, to play at this level for a coach like Keyes who is a former pro player and the Hurricanes who are a big name team in American Soccer going back to the 70s with former players Bobby Lennox and Peter Welsh. I couldn’t be more excited and can’t wait to get started. I am under no illusions I know it’s not going to be easy to get playing time, I will put my head down and put my best effort to force my way into the 18 players coach picks on game day.
The Hurricanes and Justus Rodriguez don’t have much time before they take on none other than the Houston Dynamo Acy this Sat 18th at the Dynamotraining center. For information on tryouts or any Hurricanes news contact 832 748 1001.

“It’s been a honor to play for a coach like Brendan Keyes. He helped me achieve my dreams and always supported me.”

Those words came from Indian football phenom Pratik Shinde, who became the youngest Indian footballer in history to play abroad when he signed with the NPSL’s Galveston Pirate in 2012.
“I would say Coach Keyes truly loves the game,” Shinde added. “He has been a great player in the past and continues his legacy through coaching and creating great players. He has an ability to unify his team and make them committed to the game. He inspires them to get the most out of their performance.”
The most telling comment from the Indian youth star was when he called Keyes “a man with a beautiful heart.”
It shows you the impact that Brendan Keyes has made on the beautiful game over the years. His impact is not just here or in his home country of Ireland, but all the way across the world in an emerging market like India.
Bringing the talented Shinde to the States was big news in India and rightfully so.  The youngster was first scouted by Keyes at the Gothia Cup in Sweden, one of the largest youth tournaments in the world.  Keyes was impressed and the rest is history.
“America is a land of opportunities,” Shinde added. “I’ve learned to work hard, be a better person, and not to quit on my dreams.”
Helping players reach their dreams has been a lifelong mission for Keyes.  Why? Because people helped him achieve his dreams.  Keyes is simply returning the favor. He helps players on and off the field, opening his home and his wallet to help them achieve their dreams.  He helped raise thousands of dollars to bring Shinde to America so that he could continue his education in America and follow his dreams in American soccer.
Keyes himself went from a top youth player at Ireland’s Home Farm FC to a pro in America with the Houston Hurricanes (USL) and Houston Force (APSL).  He is simply passing the torch to a new generation, sharing his own success and his achievements with young players across the world.
Keyes has done a bit of everything to grow the beautiful game.  The biggest is hissoccer camps, which have been a hit all across the country.  Keyes couldn’t recall an exact number of camps he was involved with, but admitted it was in the hundreds.
He is also credited with training, coaching, and developing hundreds of players that have made it to the collegiate and professional levels.
Keyes has even brought storied franchises in Texas back to life, including the Galveston Pirate and the Houston Hurricanes.  The Pirate, founded in 1916, was a huge success, winning the NPSL’s South Central Conference in 2012. It was their first season in the NPSL.

The Hurricanes, which saw success in both the NASL and USL, were a big hit in the NPSL this season.  Bringing back the Hurricanes name was something true to Keyes’ heart.  He brought back the legendary Texas club in a big way, bringing on major sponsors like MundoFOX and Admiral.
Now Keyes has turned his attention to creating a new league for young players to develop and grow their game. The Texas Premier SoccerLeague (TPSL) is one of the newest affiliates of U.S. Club Soccer and already has some incredible members like the Houston Dutch Lions and BCS Bearkatz FC.
Yet another trendsetting move from Keyes, who has made a career of setting trends.  We don’t expect this to change anytime soon and it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear another big announcement involving Keyes.
Growing the beautiful game here and abroad… that is the name of the game for Brendan Keyes.
Korrio understands it is your passion for coaching kids that drives you. We also know that the less time you spend dealing with administrative, communication and automation hassles, and the more time you spend on the field, the happier you’ll be. And because you play a crucial role in our children’s lives, we want you spending as much time as possible coaching our kids. Korrio offers a modern approach to coaching by allowing new ways to communicate and develop a community on and off the field. Congratulations to the ISN Star of Coaching this month.

HSN NEWS: Talks with Coach Keyes today about the Hurricanes chances of making the playoffs. Keyes, I believe Dutch Lions, Leones and regals will finish 1,2,3 so the final spot will be a battle between Hurricanes, BearKatz and Pirates and we hope to take it.  We would like the Dutch Lions in Semi finals over two legs but we will play anyone, we must first take care of business to get into top four. It wont be easy as the league is very competitive and I am sure the two other hopeful's will have something to say bout it. BearKatz in particular have surprised a few teams this season especially the Hurricanes in a 3-0 loss for the canes. The good news for coach Keyes and his team is the Kats still have to come to Hurricanes so it's a must win game for us. It will be a battle right to the end and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to the very last game. The TPSL is getting ready to kick of the second half of the season after the winter break, the first games will be played on 1st FEB, the Hurricanes will host Pirates in what is a must win game for both teams. The Texas Premier Soccer League will have ten teams next season with new teams coming in from San Antonio, Austin,Nacogdoches and Houston with LockHart Knights coming in the following year. If you want information on the league entry or sponsorship opportunities contact 832 748 1001.

Houston Hurricanes FC, a charter member of the Texas Premier (TPSL), has signed Indian football prodigy Pratik Shinde to a three-year contract extension.

The Mumbai native has been impressive in his time in America, starring for the Galveston Pirate of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) in 2012 before signing with the Houston Hurricanes in 2013. He played in sixteen games for Galveston, registering four goals and five assists. He was highly regarded and was certainly rated as one of the top players in the NPSL’s South Central Conference.

“I am so proud to play for Houston Hurricanes with the history the club has, going back to the days of NASL and USL,” Shinde added. “It is an honor to play for Coach Keyes and the Hurricanes. I have great teammates who give everything on the field, a coach that has created a family within the team, and the spirit in the camp is something I have never experienced before.”
The young midfielder has appeared in 16 games for the Hurricanes, scoring four goals and five assists in all competitions. Shinde was vital in the team advancing in the Admiral Texas Cup, even playing in the final with a difficult injury picked up in training.
“I do miss my family and friends back home, but I want them all to know I will do my best to represent our great country and carry our flag proudly,” Shinde added.
The Hurricanes are currently on winter break, but will return to action beginning February 1st with a series of warm-up matches to help prepare them for a run at the TPSL playoffs
